Erol Akyavaş

A painter who carried the imagery of Islamic thought and Sufism into the language of contemporary art. His Miraçname series rebuilds the miniature tradition on a modern surface. He spent much of his life in New York, and his training as an architect can be read in the sense of space in his compositions.
